New course record at Wescott!

The task just got a lot tougher for anyone looking to break the course record at The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation. Kyle Kmiecik set a new mark on February 19, 2017 after carding a 12-under 60.
Kmiecik’s bogey-free round included six birdies on the front (Burn Kill) and six more on the back (Black Robin). He nearly finished with a 59 but missed an eagle putt on 18.
Kmiecik had a few strokes to spare in beating the old course record of 63, set by Rob Johnson on September 22, 2007.
Kmiecik is a 2014 Kent State graduate who helped lead the Kent State men’s golf team to Mid- American Conference championships in each of his year’s with the team. He was a three-time All-MAC player, and has since played on mini tours. He traveled to Charleston with a group to play at Wescott.
The Wescott women’s course record still stands at 63. The record was set and broken by the same person one year after the next. Lauren Stephenson shot the current record of 63 on Sept. 22, 2014. She went to Lexington HS, played one year at Clemson, and is now at Alabama.
